Porting To Other Platforms Is Almost Done! / Mobile Launch!
about 6 years ago – Mon, May 04, 2020 at 02:31:26 AM

Hello beautiful backer. First, thanks for your patience and your amazing support. I'm thrilled to announce that Neversong (formerly Once Upon A Coma) is in the final stages of its port to several large platforms, including Steam and some consoles! The Steam launch is incoming! Be on the look-out for an update!

I can't disclose which console platforms we are launching on at the moment though!(Please note, backers receive Steam keys, unless you purchased the Switch add-on, which was a temporary sale event in 2018). We're in a process called "cert", which basically means you finalize various aspects of your game to ensure your game abides by the various rules of each platform. Fortunately, one platform, Apple, actually passed us already, so we launched with them today! Figured I'd let you all know so you can play on your iOS with a free trial! It's actually super fun on iOS, and it's because of you guys. I'm grateful we were able to launch on Apple, because it means your support has resulted in millions of mobile players across the world being able to share in our little adventure :)

As you all know, every platform is different, and sometimes devs stagger launches because of various schedules and variables associated with each platform. That said, if you'd like to play Neversong on Apple Arcade, you can play with a free trial. Thanks Apple!

Please now with a free trial!

I will keep you posted, and let you know ASAP when we get the locked in launch schedules.

Thanks!

Once Upon A Coma is officially being renamed!
over 6 years ago – Thu, Jan 16, 2020 at 01:36:51 AM

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." - Miyamoto

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? I hope your 2020 has been amazing so far. I have some pretty cool updates for you! As always, thanks for the patience, and can I hear a drum-roll? .....................................

Once Upon A Coma is officially being renamed to Neversong!

I love this new name, and I hope you do too! Trust me, I know it's a bit of a shock considering we're insanely close to launch. It was not without some serious brainstorming and meditation that I decided this name would be best for the game, best for the target audience, and best for it's marketing. Here are a few reasons I came to this decision:

  • The name Once Upon A Coma, for the broad audience, did not quite make sense, nor was it catchy. Most people I spoke to would often call it the wrong name, or asked me what it was again. Neversong is easy to remember, and quick to say. That's crucial in the ever-growing sea of indie games competing for attention!
  • Believe it or not, Neversong is actually a more fitting name than Once Upon A Coma. It fits with the story, mood, and overall theme of the game.
  • One of our partners consulted on us on this, and agreed Neversong was a better name considering our target audience, age group, and list of platforms. They have experience in launching high profile games, and have expertise in this arena. It was a tough pill to swallow, but we took their advice!
  • The name of the game changes absolutely nothing about the current game. Like I've stated in previous updates, the game is complete. Fortunately, changing the name is just part of the final wrap-up of the game in preparation for marketing and distribution.

Launch is just around the corner!

We're so close everyone. Trust me, Serenity Forge and I are working our butts off preparing this game for launch. As previously stated in other updates, the game is launching on Steam and consoles. We're also preparing it for a few other platforms as well. I cannot disclose at the moment exactly why we've delayed, but I believe we are a few months away from giving away the details, and I can't wait to share.

As anxious for launch as you!

All that said, I really appreciate your patience, and your feedback. You guys are the reason this game is a reality, and I'm so grateful to you for that. Some encouraging comments would be amazing, along with any questions or concerns. I assure you, the last thing we're doing is twiddling our thumbs :) This game is your game, and I want you all to continue to have faith in me. Thanks for everything.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next major update!

Update Regarding Launch!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 13, 2019 at 02:50:06 AM

First off, thank so much for your patience. Trust me -- I know how you feel. We're waiting patiently as well. We are currently waiting for some information ourselves for launch, and wish we could speed the process along. Unfortunately, we don't have much control over that. I promise we will keep you posted, and let you know immediately when we have the green-light on launch. I promise, the long wait will be worth it. One thing is certain: the game is done, and we're all very proud of it, and can't wait to show you!

Thank you everyone, and I wish you a wonderful Holiday season!
